ABOUT THE JAM

Portland-based folk-pop band, Mama Sam & The Jam, specialize in raising vibrations and lowering inhibitions—alchemy, really. Picture Mazzy Star locking eyes with Fleetwood Mac: hook-laced melodies, sky-high harmonies, trippy guitar shimmer, and grooves that sneak up on your hips. The result? You float out lighter, humming, and just a little goose-bumped.

Onstage, their chemistry crackles. They’ll tug your heartstrings with one hand and get you moving with the other. The Jam features Carmen Paradise, Nick Foltz, Rachael Curtin, and Mike Wiser (sometimes joined by Justine Renee and Carolyn Groves) all orbiting soulful songwriter Mama Sam, who leads the charge on vocals and guitar.

They introduced themselves with the debut EP Hearing Is Hard in late 2019, teaming up with renowned producer Sean Flora. When the world went quiet, Mama Sam didn’t. She recorded a solo project that featured only 2 guests: Luz Elena Medoza (of Y La Bamba) and Ryan Oxford. She released Home with Ryan Oxford in 2021, proving creativity doesn’t quarantine. In 2023, The Jam was back in full color and sparkles, cutting nine new tracks with their producer, Ricky Wilkins, and ushering in a new era with singles “Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow,” “Everything’s Fine,” and “After All This Time.”

In 2025, the band signed with VLVT HEART RECORDS for the release of their long-awaited debut full-length LP, Songs About Boys, set to land summer 2026.
